Just after midnight on February 5, 2019, Vy’s eyes closed for the final time. On February 6, family and friends gathered to lay her to rest, three years after the date of her final completed blog entry.
In the three years between the last entry she published and her passing, Vy wrote extensively about travels and life, which only gained more urgency towards the end of her life. She left me many blog entries in various states of completion with instructions for me to complete them.
By completing her blog, I hope to honor her memory, give friends and family, including myself a way to look back and smile at all the good times and travels, and increase her legacy through her inspirational words and stories.
I always said Vy was like the sun and I am like the moon. If I have any light or radiance it’s because it is a reflection of hers. I will do my best to build and complete her blog using her style. Inevitably I cannot be her. The blog entries from here on out will likely not be as good. No way around it. I will try to note where I have taken creative freedom to fill in the blanks vs what was her original words.
She is my soulmate and her presence in the world is diminished, but not removed. I hope once I’m finished with entries around her life that I can push on and add memories around my own trials and travels.
With love for all and best wishes for 2021,
Andrew
